In the Katsuura Police Station area, suspicious phone calls have been made on weekends, holidays, and evenings, impersonating a telephone company,
saying, "You have an unpaid bill."
and other suspicious calls have been confirmed.
The scammers use the unpaid bill as an opening to say something like
"You have a contract with us and you have to pay us."
"You are responsible as the administrator."
and so on to stir up anxiety and demand money.
If the caller gives you the name of a major telephone company, you may end up trusting them.
The caller says
"If you don't pay, we will take you to court."
"Please go to the bank immediately and make your payment."
If the caller says something like that, suspect a scam and consult your family or the police.
Be especially careful if you receive a call asking for money on a holiday.
